Persons with a Disability: Labor Force Characteristics Summary - 2019 Report

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released "Persons with a Disability: Labor Force Characteristics – 2019" report. In 2019, the annual unemployment rate for persons with a disability declined to the lowest level on record, 7.3% - in comparison, the annual unemployment rate for persons without a disability was 3.5%. BLS statistics showed that 19.3% of persons with a disability were employed in 2019. Employment data on persons with a disability are collected as part of the Current Population Survey, a monthly survey of about 60,000 households. The collection of data on persons with a disability is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).
