New Workplace Tool for Talking to Managers about Disability Inclusion
February 8, 2017
Source: Northeast ADA Center
Managers and supervisors are the front line when it comes to implementing policies and practices designed to support disability inclusion in the workplace. To help employers communicate this critical role to managers and supervisors, the Northeast Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Center developed Communication Tools to Support Disability Inclusion. This guide can assist workplace leaders, including Human Resource professionals, diversity and inclusion managers, business owners and corporate executives, in sending the right messages about disability inclusion. Topics include how disability inclusion benefits businesses, strategies for creating a workplace culture welcoming of people with disabilities, and recruiting and hiring tips.
This new guide offers communication tool templates on 11 topics. Under each topic you will find sample you can adapt to your own organization and tips for using these messages with your managers and supervisors.
If you have questions about policies and practices that can support disability inclusion in the workplace, visit http://disabilitytoolkit.org/. To learn more about the topics and tools displayed here, contact the Northeast ADA Center at 607-255-6686 or www.northeastada.org.
