Celebrate the 22nd Anniversary of the Olmstead Decision

June 22, 2021
Source: ADA National Network (ADANN)

Today we celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Olmstead v. L.C. This landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision held that unjustified segregation is a form of discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and people with disabilities have a civil right under the ADA to live and participate in their communities.

We honor Lois Curtis and Elaine Wilson, known for their refusal to live institutionalized, which led to the Olmstead decision by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 22, 1999.
