July 12, 2013
Source: Federal Communications Commission (FCC)

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) will kick off its Accessibility and Innovation Initiative Speaker Series with "The Future of Inclusive Design Online," a presentation by University of Colorado Professor Clayton Lewis on July 16 from 10 AM to 12 PM, Eastern time. This presentation will take place at FCC headquarters in Washington, D.C. and via live webcast.

Pre-registration is not required but is highly encouraged. Please RSVP to Aaron Vimont via phone (202) 418-2738 or email aaron.vimont@fcc.gov.

Topics will include:

  • the shift from accessing a presentation of content in a particular form such as a web page, to accessing the underlying content through a program that can render it in a different form, such as an audio summary;
  • the shift from mass production to personalized customization of content; the development of tools that allow individuals with disabilities to be producers as well as consumers of content;
  • and the design of policies that make these things possible.

The general session of the event will be webcast with open captioning at http://www.fcc.gov/live. For more information about this event, please visit http://fcc.us/DevAccCL7-16-2013.
