April 12, 2013
Source: U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)
The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) has released the report, ODEP Accomplishments 2009 — 2012 (PDF 27 pages). This document highlights the work that ODEP has done to ensure that people with disabilities are fully included in the Department of Labor's mission of improving job opportunities for America's workers. The achievements and resources highlighted in the report are illustrative of the wide breadth of ODEP's activities.
The document contains a myriad of resources, reports, and examples showing how ODEP has countered negative perceptions about the employability of people with disabilities; increased access to training, employment and youth transition services; and expanded access to employment supports and job accommodations. As a result, the conversation about disability employment continues to evolve from one focused on whether people with disabilities can work to how they can succeed in and improve our workplaces.
