Justice Department Extends Deadline for Comments on Movie Captioning to December 1st

October 15, 2014
Source: U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)

Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires movie theaters and other places of public accommodation to provide effective communication through the use of auxiliary aids and services. This new rulemaking specifies requirements that movie theaters will need to meet in order to satisfy their effective communication obligations to people with hearing and vision disabilities.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) encourages the public to review the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and submit comments by the deadline - extended until December 1, 2014.
