February 27, 2014
Source: LEAD Center
The LEAD Centers Policy Update – Employment, Health Care and Disability is a monthly update focusing on the intersection of disability, employment and health care policy. It is intended to provide policymakers, disability service professionals, individuals with disabilities and their families with information about relevant policy developments regarding Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act and related topics, with a focus on improving employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
The February 2014 update features stories on the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) policy brief on employment outcomes for transition-aged youth with chronic health conditions and disabilities, potential solutions to “churning” between Medicaid and statewide insurance exchanges, a Congressional Budget Office’s report on the impact access to non-employer based health care will have on the labor market and hours worked, a new guide issued to help healthcare insurance marketplace navigators better assist people with disabilities in obtaining private health insurance and the benefits of supported employment for people with psychiatric disabilities.
The LEAD Center Policy Update – Employment, Health Care and Disability is a project of the LEAD Center in collaboration with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.
