Airport Health Station Program Achieves Full ADA Compliance

February 13, 2014

The mission of World Health Networks (WHN) Airport Health Station program is to provide airline passengers, especially frequent business travelers, the means to achieve higher performance, develop more stamina and, most of all, better health.

They are pleased to announce that the second generation Health Stations are fully compliant with the latest ADA regulations and will be ready for placement in Airports around the globe in Q2.

To ensure the approval of health stations by airports worldwide, WHN partnered with industry expert Open Doors Organization (ODO) for guidance in meeting and exceeding two sets of standards: the U.S. DOJ Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 2010 Standards and the recently published DOT Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) final rule on “Accessibility of Web Sites and Automated Kiosks at Airports.” WHN has taken a leadership role with this important issue and will make this our standard for installation in airports around the world.

Program Details

WHN is supplying the Health Stations at no cost and pays airports a space rental fee, while promoting the healthy products and services available at the airport at no cost to the concessionaires, while still being free to use for passengers.

The fully automated biometric Health Station monitors offer instant access to the most important parameters of our health, including:

  • blood pressure
  • heart rate
  • weight
  • body fat percentage
  • body mass index (BMI)

The test results can be downloaded to smartphones, and then used for a more comprehensive professional analysis - which is invaluable to a personal health profile of an individual. Each Health Station has a private interactive user interface with audio and visual instructions and a publicly viewed 40” HD television screen that provides educational and consumer information to engage users to take an active role in making better lifestyle choices.

Major Program benefits to the Airport include:

  • An amenity that enhances the passenger experience, emphasizing healthier lifestyles and healthy living – a strong trend among airports
  • Passenger satisfaction – proven usage of the health stations in airports
  • Health education to passengers and airport employees
  • A platform for cross promotion of airport concessions and on-site health clinics – further increasing revenues
  • Airport employee health and wellness monitoring program options.

World Health Networks, Inc. is a for-profit organization. It was founded to lead a global fight against cardiovascular disease (CVD). WHN provides gratis access to self-service health stations for early detection of CVD via non-invasive, biometric wellbeing tests in airports. WHN is aligned with a number of Industry Groups and Health associations, including; ACI-Europe, ACI-NA, IATA, Airline Medical Directors Association, World Heart Federation, and Open Doors Organization - all are members of the Coalition for Healthful Airports.

Open Doors Organization works with the U.S. Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and other foreign agencies that have jurisdiction and controls over airports and is the principal consultant to the Airports Council International (ACI) to help set standards and practices for their member airports in accessibility.
