Do Depressed Employees Represent a Safety Threat?

Depression is a recognized mental illness that qualifies as a disability within the ADA guidelines. As such, employers are tasked with figuring out how to appropriately respond to employees dealing with depression and work out ways to accommodate these employees without giving rise to a disability discrimination claim. Employers must also keep all employees including the employee in question safe at the same time. How can employers walk that fine line?
