All Metro Stations Now Have SmarTrip Vending Machines

November 7, 2012
Source: Washington Post

The transit agency has been installing new machines across the system, and with older machines in place in 47 stations, Metro now has at least one machine in each of the 86 system stations.

The new machines are part of teh Metro campaign to move riders from paper cards to the rechargeable Smar Trip cards, which Metro says are easier to administer and generally easier for riders to use. Metro now applies a $1 surcharge on trips paid for with paper fare cards.
