Department of Justice ADA Settlement Agreement with Deerfield Inn and Suites in Gadsden, Alabama

November 6, 2019
Source: U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)

The U.S. Department of Justice recently reached a Settlement Agreement with the owner of Deerfield Inn and Suites in Gadsden, Alabama. A person with a disability filed an ADA complaint against the hotel when staff denied her a room because she was accompanied by a service animal. As part of the Settlement, the hotel owner agreed to comply with Title III of the ADA to ensure that the hotel does not discriminate against any individual on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the services it provides by excluding or providing unequal treatment to persons with disabilities, including those who use service animals.
