Inclusive Career Pathways Community of Practice: Y-TAC Strategies to Engage Young People with Disabilities/Disconnected Youth

Tuesday, December 10, 2019
3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. EST

Cost: Free

Format: Dialogue

Where: Online/Web-based

Sponsored By:

Workforce Innovation Technical Assistance Center (WINTAC), Southeast ADA Center, Institute for Educational Leadership, Kentucky Vocational Rehabilitation, Project Case and the DEI

Description:

Please join us for a discussion with Karin Grandon as she shares strategies for serving disconnected youth – such as those involved in the juvenile justice system, the foster care system and other traditionally underserved and/or isolated youth populations – who need to re-engage with education and/or work. This is done through the Youth Technical Assistance Center (Y-TAC), a U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA)-funded Technical Assistance Center.

The Y-TAC is charged with providing State Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies and related rehabilitation and youth service professionals with technical assistance to help more effectively serve students and youth with disabilities.

Join us for an online presentation and discussion on December 10 to learn about:

  • Opportunity/Out-of-School Youth (OSY) and why Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) stakeholders should know about them;
  • How OSY intersects with Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) and the WIOA Career Pathways focus; and
  • How Y-TAC is assisting VR and VR stakeholders to improve services for OSY and how agencies can participate/benefit from these activities.

Presenter: Karin Grandon, Technical Assistance Liaison, Institute for Educational Leadership
