Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities and the Georgia Advocacy Office

The Georgia Advocacy Office invites you to a supported decision making symposium with attorney Morgan Witlatch. The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities has partnered with the Georgia Advocacy Office to promote supported decision-making (SDM) as an alternative to guardianship in Georgia. Supported decision-making allows people to obtain guidance and support without relinquishing their legal right to make personal choices about their lives. Using supported decision-making, a person with a disability selects a person or a team of trusted people to help understand, make, and communicate their decisions. Many people need support when making healthcare decisions; this symposium offers an opportunity to explore the many ways supported decision-making can be used in this context.
