There are various Training Tools for use in your presentations and numerous opportunities for information and continuing education on disability-related issues through the ADA Audioconference Series, Webcourses, and a current Calendar of Events. Transcripts and handouts from past audioconferences are also available.
At Your Service: Welcoming Customers with Disabilities
A free, accessible, self-paced webcourse for Customer Service Representatives employed at the Department of Labor's One-Stop Centers. The objectives of this course are:
- Increase understanding of the needs and experiences of people with disabilities.
- Identify how to adjust customer service standards to meet the needs of the customer with a disability.
- Develop basic etiquette for interacting with a customer who has a disability.
- Explain compliance with statutes regarding service to people with disabilities, particularly the ADA and Section 508.
ADA Basic Building Blocks
An introductory webcourse on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) that explores the legal requirements and spirit of the ADA. Upon completion, you may be eligible to earn a certificate and 0.5 continuing education units (CEU) if you meet all established requirements. The objectives of this course are:
- Discuss the purpose of the ADA using a civil rights framework.
- Identify the five titles of the ADA.
- Define the general nondiscrimination requirements of the ADA.
- Explain each nondiscrimination requirement using 1-2 real-life examples.
- Identify the defenses or limitations of each nondiscrimination requirement.
- Become familiar with various resources for information on the ADA.
- Earn a Certificate and CEU.
